It provides users with a structured basis for the management and routine assessment of hygiene and food safety within their business. The Standard is a method by which producers can demonstrate to local authority inspectors their competence and commitment in the management of hygiene and food safety.

- Processors or manufacturers of foodstuffs
- Retailers of food products
- Caterers / foodservice operations
